Monash Motorsport are heading to Europe! Continuing the team’s two year design cycle, a further developed M15 vehicle, named M15R, will be departing Australian shores on May 3 heading to Europe to begin the team’s 2016 campaign, taking on Europe’s best. The eight week expedition will involve competing at three of the continent’s most prestigious competitions, UK, Austria and Germany.

Formula Student UK will be held at the world renowned Silverstone racing circuit between July 14 and 17. With over 100 teams competing it is by far the largest competition in the world. The team has done extremely well in the past, finishing 5th in 2014 and 3rd in 2012. Following this the team will travel the Austria’s Red Bull Ring where the much smaller and highly competitive Formula Student Austria will take place on August 1-4. The team has never competed in Austria and we are extremely excited to make our mark on this competition! Completing the campaign will be Formula Student Germany, held at the Hockenheim ring between August 11 and 14. We look forward to reclaiming our stake in Germany after an unfortunate failure on the last lap on endurance in 2014.

European competitions are an extremely important undertaking for the team as it allows us to take on the world’s best, further validate designs, vastly increase learning and increase our international exposure and respect not only for the team and university but to represent Australia’s engineering and manufacturing excellence.

Logistically the campaign represents a huge challenge for the team as the car and majority of the workshop will be freighted over to Europe along with the management of all 35 team members. With the assistance of DB Schenker and Safepack the car and equipment will be freighted from Melbourne to Stuttgart, Germany, where the team will be based with our friends at Rennteam Stuttgart.

The team is also looking forward to meeting all of our overseas partners including KTM, ZF and Bosch.
