SummerFest at Monash 2016
Following on from an extremely successful WinterFest in 2015, Monash University welcomed the new academic year by holding a week-long event celebrating all things Summer. The festival showcased a range of sports, food and visual and performing arts across the Clayton and Caulfield campuses.
The team were extremely excited and honoured to be involved in the first day of SummerFest - being our first public event of the year, it was great to start off on home turf. Working closely with the Faculty of Engineering & IT, Monash Motorsport set up outside Campus Centre along with a couple of students from Information Technology and aimed to get the university excited about the team, the faculty and the event.
Three cars were on display throughout the day with M15 being reassembled on site to give university students and staff a little insight into what the team does behind the scenes. As SummerFest began the week leading up to the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, a couple of F1 driving simulators were set up and a competition for the fastest lap was held to kick off the festival in true Motorsport style!
The team saw great engagement from the number of students and staff walking around campus, most of which stopped by to have a chat and get to know us a little better. Monash Motorsport would like to thank the university for giving us the opportunity to get our name out there and get people excited about Engineering & IT. We can’t wait for the next event!
